Meet Calvin Lavender, also known by his stage name CalyCal, who is a 23 year old recording artist hailing from Lafayette, Georgia.
CalyCal first began creating music when he was 19 years old. He began with writing lyrics long before he entered the studio and recorded his first song. His reasoning for creating music was to inspire others. He also has various career goals involving music, working to make it something he can do full time.
He creates music under the Rap and Pop genres. Quoted from an interview, “I like to tell the world about my upbringing and what challenges I have overcome. I know that people can relate to my story so I am thankful to be able to share it”.
CalyCal’s most successful track to date is titled “SUPERSAIYAN”, pronounced Super-sane. The song has accumulated over 100,000 streams on Spotify. He mentioned how the song brings all the energy and helps get his fans loud and hype during shows.
There are several notable artists whom inspire him, some of which include Lacrae, Jen Ledger, Juice World, XXXTentacion, Tupac, Bow Wow, and Lil Wayne. A last note from the artist: “I am working on an Ep called a Wolf from the Mountains and I am preparing for the I AM ENERGY Experience”.
